You can check to set your mail client (ie: Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.) not to automatically download new email from your server to your local desktop. This can defeat the purpose of MailWasher. MailWasher's design permits it to look on your server and manage mail before it's downloaded to your computer. This permits you to see and read parts of your arriving mail without ever having ``received'' it (as far as the spammer can see). I can help you make this setting correctly, as needed, if you think your mail is downloading automatically.
Advanced users will appreciate MailWasher's ability to display an email's complete headers in a snap, as well as a prescribed amount of message text. And you can cut and paste info from any preview, should that be wanted, all without actually ``receiving'' the email locally.

Do a dynamic search for the pages of the concern, and see if you can locate and execute your orders from the browser. Make sure the vendor is a known entity, and call them by phone to double check. If they have vanished later, along with the money, recovery will be all the more difficult, probably impossible. Online references should be discounted as wholly worthless because the criminals display more of those than do the straight and well-respected merchants and organizations.
In the future, mainline organizations will not ask you to click email links, but will display their non-program-active email content in a way that security scanners should tolerate.
